Lakers win Game 1 despite Carmelo Anthony's outburst!

Carmelo Anthony was being guarded by Kobe Bryant. Kobe Bryant, who was on the same Olympic basketball team Melo was on. Kobe Bryant, who guarded the best offensive player on the opposing team in the Olympic games. Kobe Bryant, All-NBA defensive first team.

It didn't matter. Carmelo Anthony just kept shooting, and he kept making the shots. Still, Kobe Bryant is far more than just a defensive stopper. Kobe scored 15 points in the fourth quarter and willed the Los Angeles Lakers to a game one win. THAT. WAS. HUGE.

The Denver Nuggets have been on rampage this postseason, taking care of the New Orleans Hornets and the Dallas Mavericks in five games apiece. A win in Los Angeles would've boosted their confidence like you wouldn't believe, and put more doubts in the hearts and minds of the Los Angeles Lakers. After the heartbreak of last year's NBA Finals, I'm not sure the Lakers can handle any more doubt.

Bottom line? Kobe didn't just win game one for the Lakers. He saved the series from them. Now Denver's in trouble, Carmelo Anthony or not.
